This coffee comes from Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s most celebrated growing regions. It is also one of the country’s highest and driest non-volcanic coffee areas. Warm, dry winds from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain move through the region and help protect coffee plants from frost, allowing them to thrive at very high elevations.

The landscape is shaped by mountain terrain, rich soils, varied microclimates, and natural water sources. Together, these conditions support slow cherry development and dense, flavorful beans. Because of the region’s high elevations and remote terrain, many producers process their own coffee, adding another layer of care and quality control.

This Strictly Hard Bean coffee is grown at about 1,650 meters above sea level. At that altitude, the fruit matures slowly, giving the coffee time to build sweetness and structure. After harvest, the beans are fully washed, a process that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying. This washed method brings clarity to the cup and allows the character of the region to come through with precision.
