We’re delighted to continue featuring the work of Julia Peterson throughout August at Klekolo World Coffee.
Julia’s July exhibit received such a warm response that we’ve extended it for another month, giving visitors another opportunity to experience artwork that invites a closer look.
Both an artist and elementary art teacher, Julia creates work inspired by nature, emotion, and the quiet moments of everyday life. Their paintings blend observation with imagination, encouraging viewers to slow down and see familiar subjects from a different perspective.
Creating and teaching are closely connected in Julia’s life. As an elementary art teacher in Meriden and a practicing artist, they bring the same curiosity and creativity into both the classroom and the studio. That balance between educator and artist is reflected throughout the exhibit.
Whether you missed the July show or want to spend more time with the work, August is another chance to experience Julia’s thoughtful collection here at Klekolo.

Every Tuesday evening, Klekolo Sessions continues with live music in an intimate coffeehouse setting.
For more than three decades, Klekolo has been a place where musicians and listeners share the same room—where performances happen just a few feet away and conversations continue long after the last song.

August 4 — Morgan Chambers
Morgan Chambers opens August at Klekolo Sessions with an evening of heartfelt songwriting rooted in life’s real experiences.
A Connecticut singer-songwriter, Morgan writes with honesty about love, heartbreak, growth, and resilience. Her music blends thoughtful lyrics with soulful melodies, creating songs that invite listeners to reflect on their own experiences as much as hers.
Influenced by folk and indie music, Morgan released her debut EP last spring and continues to build a growing collection of original songs shaped by authenticity and personal storytelling.
If you enjoy honest songwriting and contemporary folk with an indie spirit, Morgan is a wonderful way to begin August at Klekolo Sessions.

August 11 — Matt Numa & Mo Andres
Matt Numa returns to Klekolo Sessions, joined this month by Mo Andres for an evening that brings together two distinctive voices in contemporary songwriting.
Matt’s music blends indie, alternative, and singer-songwriter influences with lyrics rooted in honesty, resilience, and lived experience. Drawing inspiration from artists like Neil Young, Jim Croce, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, his performances balance raw emotion with thoughtful storytelling.
Joining him is Mo Andres, a musician and multidisciplinary performance artist whose alternative folk songs are shaped by a journey through love, grief, healing, and transformation. Raised in the foothills of Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and now based in Middletown, Connecticut, Mo’s recent EP, Highway Hypnosis, traces both a physical and emotional journey along Interstate 81.
Together they’ll bring an evening of original music filled with reflection, collaboration, and expressive performances that fit naturally within the close-listening atmosphere of Klekolo Sessions.

August 18 — Zoofront
Zoo Front brings an evening of original indie rock filled with creativity, memorable songs, and an ever-evolving sound.
With each new album, the band’s sound continues to evolve, blending the individual influences of its members into something uniquely its own. Guitar-driven melodies, memorable hooks, and creative arrangements have inspired one admirer to describe them as “groovy modern beatniks.”
If record stores still filed music by genre, Zoo Front might live somewhere between new wave, Americana, glam rock, punk, and indie—but it’s probably easier to simply experience them live.

📚 Author Book Signing — Wednesday, August 19
Join us for an afternoon with Jenn L. Beckwith, celebrating the release of her first published book “All Good Cretins Go to Heaven“.
Jenn is a children’s librarian on the Connecticut shoreline and a self-described non-conformist, music nerd, and lifelong bookworm. Beyond the library, she hosts Subterranean Playground on WESU-FM under the DJ name Carbona Ramona, spinning punk, surf, garage, and rockabilly.
Jenn lives in central Connecticut with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. If you’re a Klekolo regular, you’ve probably already met her husband, Chris, who can often be found here with Gerta. The couple is easy to spot around town cruising in one of Chris’s distinctive antique cars.
We’re excited to welcome Jenn to Klekolo as she celebrates the release of her first published book with an afternoon signing and conversation.

August 25 — Ben Crnic
Ben Crnic closes out August with an evening of acoustic music that blends familiar favorites with heartfelt original songs.
A New England singer-songwriter, Ben performs acoustic interpretations of classics spanning the 1960s through today while also sharing original music that explores finding your place in the world, navigating change, and the passage of time.
His songwriting is marked by honesty, vulnerability, and a touch of humor. As Ben likes to say, he’s still working toward writing his first truly happy song.
Whether covering beloved classics or performing his own material, Ben brings warmth, authenticity, and an engaging presence that makes for a fitting close to another month of Klekolo Sessions.
