In a few days, we will be donating coffee to an Espwesso fundraiser event! Espwesso is a completely student-run coffee shop on Wesleyan campus and is student favorite! The event goes on for a week and is kicked off on Sunday March 4th at 9pm with performances by student acapella groups, comedy groups, and musicians. All proceeds from drip coffee for the week are donated directly to SHOFCO’s Women’s Empowerment Movement (meaning the funds go towards programs and supplies for the women and Kenya and not towards administrative fees).
SHOFCO is Shining Hope for Communities helping combat gender inequality and extreme poverty in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya, by linking tuition free schools for girls to accessible social services for all.

Some info on this Coffee –
“In 2003, JJ Keki, a Ugandan farmer, walked door-to-door asking his
Muslim, Christian, and Jewish neighbors to put aside old differences,
confront their challenges together, and find a better price for their
coffee. His neighbors agreed, and together, they formed the Peace
Kawomera Cooperative. Theirs is the story of a community who risked
everything—their farms and their livelihoods—to build a more
prosperous future, and peace.
The 1,032 farmers of the Peace Kawomera Cooperative produce beautiful
Arabica coffee on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, in Eastern Uganda. Rich
volcanic soils, antique varietals, and the farmer’s craft combine to
produce a coffee that is rich and full-bodied, with distinctive hints
of vanilla and nutmeg, and a nutty sweetness.”
We Love really awesome coffee with a message of peace!!!
